Mr. Chris Schijns (1984 Genk) obtained his Master's degree with honours in law in July 2009 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, with the main subject of public and administrative law. In January 2011, he completed training in climate and energy law at the Institute for Environmental and Energy Law at the K.U. Leuven. In 2005, he obtained his professional Bachelor, with honours, in legal practice at the Provinciaal Hogeschool Limburg. During his legal studies, he developed a clear interest in (international) public and administrative law. Building on this, in the context of the Erasmus exchange programme, he studied at the Université Robert Schuman in Strasbourg, where he also completed an internship at the European Parliament. He then continued his training at the University of Malta. He began his internship at the Mondard-D'Hulst in Brussels in 2009. In the summer of 2013, he moved into industry, where he became the in-house legal adviser PPP & Real Estate for Belgium's largest property group AG Real Estate. In the summer of 2014, he decided to return to his first love at the bar. Since 01 November 2014, he has been working for Adlex Advocaten. Since 1 September 2012, he has also been connected to the Katholieke Hogeschool Leuven as a visiting lecturer on (inter)national environmental law within the Bachelor in Advanced Business Management. Since January 2015, he has also been working for the Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg as lecturer in environmental law (urban planning and environmental law) within the Business Management course, in the Legal Practice module. Mr. Chris Schijns applies himself to public and administrative law, in particular urban planning, compulsory purchase procedures, environmental law and public contracts. He regularly speaks in public on these topics. As well as his interest in public and administrative law, he also has many social commitments He was chairman of the student board at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the academic year 2008-2009, was also a member of the Board of Directors and the governing body of the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, as well as the faculty board and the faculty college of the law faculty and, finally, also of the student board of the Associatie Erasmushogeschool Brussel and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Mr. Chris Schijns is currently an associate member and board member of Rotary Club Leuven Brussel Dijleland.
